The Process I use To Design Logos
Many clients know that they should have a logo, but are not aware of the fundamental purpose and use of a logo. Understanding the real meaning of a logo will help to create a better work flow between myself and clients. I have listed some information here about logos and the process I use to develop a logo.
A simple logo is easy to remember and provides ease of use. A complex logo is the the opposite, it will be hard to remember and difficult to reproduce. Remember that you should be able to print your logo even in black white without loosing its form. Just take a look at the logos of nike, fedex and McDonalds provided here. Get a logo that is simple, attractive and memorable. Your logo must be able to be seen on the web, in a catalog, on cloth, or on glassware, dark backgrounds, on light backgrounds, on textured surfaces, or on various sizes like on an billboard or on a poster.

Your logo the agent of your company.
I don't think a logo must have an image that's about your company, but the logo should tell a story about the company. The style must be easily linked with the industry or product/service and must give a clear picture of what is being marketed.

Don't be cheap and take short cuts.
When developing your logo you keep in mind that you have to think long term. Your company may be small now but could become huge oneday and your logo can help you get there. You may be tempted to use a template or some clipart now, but what happens when you decide to go more high profiled. You will then realize the importance of a good quality and unique logo. Whats the purpose of a logo if 10 more company are using the same clip art. There's only one effective way to design a unique, effective logo and that's to work with a seasoned professional with the experience to get your job right.
The Logo Design Process.

1. The Logo Brief - this important step is where I collect all the information about the logo from the client. This would include color scheme, name of the company, whats your industry, etc. Thsi information helps in saving time and getting my client what they need.

2. The company Reseach - After the design brief, I take time to get to know my client’s businesses. This is a crucial step because it helps to make the logo design successful. Research includes general reading on the industry itself, sometimes on its history, and on its competitors.

3. Brainstorming - This is where i look for inspiration and research possible look, feel or style. I may look at similar businesses, not to copy to but to get my thoghts going.

4. Sketching the logo - This is where I would utilize the design brief and research done earlier. I will come up with different concepts and this is where the creativity comes in. I make many skethes on a paper as the ideas come to mind.

5. Reflection - This is where I get some feedback from others and take a break to renew my thoughts.

6. Presentation - This is where I will present my final design samples to my client for selection
