First, always ensure that your business information and logo are included on the invoice. This is good for branding and awareness.

Second, use invoices that fit your specific needs. If you need large, personalized invoices to include detailed item/product information, you can find those readily available. If you need job invoices, you can buy them by the book (and they can be customizable with your business information). If you need invoices with carbon copies, those are also available.

Next, make sure to include all the information fields you’ll need to use. This includes the following pieces of information:

  • Invoice number
  • Billing location
  • Shipping/delivery information
  • Quantity
  • Purchase date
  • Invoice date
  • Subtotal
  • Shipping charges
  • Tax
  • Total
